What is desktop publishing?

Desktop publishing is the layout of pages using a computer to manipulate text and graphics to create an interesting and pleasing design.

In desktop publishing, we combine creative writing with font styles and graphics in page layouts with professional-quality materials quickly and inexpensively.

Desktop publishing is very different from word processing, which is used primarily for processing text, but without unique layout qualities, other than text formatting.
